Cluster beans recipe is not exactly everyones favorite. People do not like Cluster Beans because it’s bitter in taste. But Cluster beans is a healthy vegetable. Some people like this Cluster Beans and they eat it almost weekly. I’m enjoying it occasionally.
Cluster beans is native to India and consumed in almost all the 29 states of India. It contains glyconutrients which help in controlling blood sugar levels in our the body. Many people are not aware of the fact that Cluster Beans is low in glycemic index and hence, do not cause rapid fluctuations in your blood sugar levels when we consumed. People do not like Cluster Beans because it’s bitter in taste.

Ingredients
- Cluster Beans - 250 gms
- Red chilli powder - 2 tbs
- Salt - to taste
- Onion - 2 Medium
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Tomato - 2 small
- Turmeric (Haldi) - ½ tea spoon
- Coriander powder - ½ tbs
- Peanuts powder - ½ cup
- Water - 150 ml
- Tamarind syrup - ½ tbs
- Oil - 3 tbs
For Seasoning
- Mustard - ½ tea spoon
- Urad Dal - ½ tea spoon
- Cumin Seeds - ½ tea spoon
- Curry leaves (Karivepaku) - 5-6 leaves
- Coriander - 1 tbs chopped
Instructions
- Cut the Cluster Beans into Pieces (1 inch size).
- Take a pressure Cooker, put oil. Once the oil gets heated, add mustard, urad dal and cumin seeds.
- While splattering the mustard, add onions, garlic, curry leaves and fry them till the onions turned into golden brown color.
- Add tomatoes and stir it well till the tomatoes become soften. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and mix them well and fry till the raw smell of powder goes off.
- Add beans now to the mixture and stir it well till the raw smell of beans goes off.
- Add peanuts powder (fry the peanuts and grind it roughly) and mix it.
- Add water, Tamarind syrup and Salt, stir the mixture well and keep the lid and pressure it for ONLY ONE WHISTLE.
- Add coriander leaves once open the lid. Your curry is ready.
Notes
- You can prepare peanut powder more in quantity and preserve for future use of the other curries.
- Don’t pressure it for more whistles. The beans will get mashed for more whistles.
- Add salt during fry of the onions and other veggies itself. Hence the onions and other veggies will get fried quickly.
